I'm John

John Vinu Pallathatta, has spent the majority of his time in Cochin, Kerala, a land of emotions and art. He has travelled throughout lands understanding places, people and culture. Being able to adapt the right way to understand an emotion at a particular time makes him connected to a situation or a person. This makes sure that John captures the absolute right, for his client/friend who comes for an imprint on them. Rest, his art speaks.

From Corporate Life to Tattoo Artist

John, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, spent 3.5 years in the corporate sector. Despite his professional success, his true passion lay in the arts—drawing, painting, and crafting jewelry. Raised in a middle-class family, he always sought creative outlets.

The pivotal moment came during his last corporate year when he attended a transformative tattoo convention. Immersed in the vibrant tattoo culture, John felt a deep connection and desire to become a tattoo artist. Inspired by this experience, he left the corporate world to follow his true calling, embracing a career in the tattoo industry.

The Journey

John's journey led him to travel all across India, delving deep into the rich and diverse tattoo traditions of the country. This period of exploration was more than just a professional endeavor; it was a spiritual journey that profoundly enriched his understanding and appreciation of tattoo artistry. Attending various tattoo conventions further fueled his ambition, providing him with opportunities to immerse himself in the tattoo community and learn from seasoned artists. This extensive travel and immersion in India's tattoo culture significantly shaped John's path as a tattoo artist, enhancing both his skills and his artistic vision.

Establishing Moonstone Tattoos

Despite numerous challenges and obstacles, John's perseverance paid off in 2019 when he had the incredible opportunity to train under the guidance of renowned tattoo artist Danny Brutus. This training was instrumental in his development, equipping him with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the tattoo industry. During this period, John absorbed not only technical skills but also the profound cultural and spiritual significance of tattoos.

In 2020, John proudly established Moonstone Tattoos, realizing his long-held dream of owning a tattoo studio. This milestone marked the culmination of years of dedication and hard work, blending his artistic talents with the rich experiences gathered from his travels and training. Moonstone Tattoos stands as a testament to John's journey, offering clients a unique blend of traditional and contemporary tattoo art. His studio is a place where art meets spirituality, reflecting the enlightenment and growth he experienced throughout his journey in the tattoo world.
